What a publisher does, in plain terms

These are the areas GG Publishing ApS covers. Each project combines them differently, and the final scope is always agreed in writing with the studio before work begins.

Game publishing for independent studios

As a publisher, GG Publishing ApS takes responsibility for bringing a game to market on behalf of the studio that makes it. We agree the scope of our role in writing before work starts, so both sides know who does what from signing to release and beyond.

Typically includes

  • Review of pitches, prototypes and vertical slices
  • A written publishing agreement that sets out roles, rights and responsibilities
  • A named point of contact at GG Publishing ApS throughout the project
  • Coordination of the work streams described below

Production support and milestone planning

Publishing works best when both sides share the same picture of the project. We work with the studio on a milestone plan that reflects the actual scope of the game, and we keep it up to date as the project develops.

Typically includes

  • Milestone and scope planning together with the development team
  • Regular progress reviews based on playable builds
  • Help with prioritising features and content for release
  • Tracking of open risks and decisions

Marketing and launch communication

Players need to understand what a game is and why it might be for them. We plan the communication around a release with the studio, from the first announcement to launch week, and make sure the messaging stays honest to the game itself.

Typically includes

  • Positioning and key messages for the game
  • Store page text and media planning
  • Trailer and screenshot planning together with the studio
  • Announcement and launch timeline
  • Press and content creator outreach planning

Digital release and store management

Releasing a game digitally involves many practical steps: store listings, age rating questionnaires, build submissions and release-day checks. We coordinate these steps so that nothing is left to the last minute.

Typically includes

  • Store listing preparation and upkeep
  • Coordination of age rating submissions
  • Release build checklists and submission coordination
  • Planning for updates and patches after launch

Localisation coordination

Localisation lets a game reach players who prefer to play in their own language. We help decide which languages make sense for the game and coordinate translators and language testing with the studio.

Typically includes

  • Advice on language selection for the release
  • Preparation of text for translation
  • Coordination of translation partners
  • Language testing and review of in-game text

Quality assurance coordination

Testing is most useful when it is planned early. We work with the studio to schedule testing rounds, organise testers and keep bug reports clear, so the team can fix what matters most before release.

Typically includes

  • Test planning aligned with milestones
  • Coordination of functional and compatibility testing
  • Clear, prioritised bug reporting
  • Release-candidate checks before launch
